He blended jazz, funk, and traditional South African music, creating a unique and vibrant sound that captivated audiences worldwide. A Legacy of Jazz Born in 1939 in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Masekela's musical journey began with his first trumpet at the age of 14.
